The Author, John T. McCabe, was born in Philadelphia on Flag Day, 1932. Following three years in the Army, he obtained a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MS in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Pennsylvania.
At thirty, John entered the working world by joining the Franklin Institute Research Institute Laboratories in Philadelphia. He married and, over the next 10 years, he rose to the position of Principle Engineer. Then, John and his family moved to Saratoga, NY where he joined Mechanical Technology Inc. (MTI).
Over the next 20 years at MTI, he rose to Director of the Mechanical Engineering Department. In 1986, while in upstate NY, he joined the Tai Kwon Do karate organization in Saratoga Springs and for seven years, he attended classes and participated in tournaments and camps.
In 1991, the family moved to Ann Arbor, MI when Mr. McCabe joined the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) and the Saratoga YMCA Judo Club. One year later, he became a student of Master Gabriel Chin. For 12 years, he studied under Master Chin, learning how to teach Tai Chi, Chi Kung, Taoist Longevity, and other Chinese arts. At the suggestion of Master Chin, he authored and published the book, CD and DVD that are the subjects of this web site. In between Tai Chi classes and writing, John rose to the position of Vice President of Technology at NCMS.
In 1994, to be closer to children and grandchildren, John retired and moved Sioux Falls, South Dakota Currently, Mr. McCabe is writing a fact-based fictional book titled Carbon.
